Responsibilities of the role: Develops trading strategies to maximise the return for the company’s existing generation assets in i-SEM. Identify pathways and strategies to maximise market revenues from off-take volumes and forward trading of power. Minimise the impact of balancing costs for renewable assets in i-SEM by minimising forecasting errors and actively trading in the Ex-Ante Markets. Trade analysis and execution, portfolio optimisation and daily trading operations required to participate in i-SEM. Manage the financial implications of trading across multiple timeframes and all associated credit requirements. Provide input into the determination of the optimum fuel mix in order to maximise revenue. Forecast renewable generation position. Optimise and actively trade power in the Ex-Ante and Balancing Markets for renewable and thermal operating units under i-SEM. Submit and update Physical Notifications to the Balancing Market for the companies thermal assets. Work with the Operations Team to determine asset condition and integrate this knowledge into budding strategy. The holder of this role will be immersed in the daily operations of i-SEM. All employees are expected to co-operate fully with all provisions taken by the company for ensuring Health and Safety, and Welfare of co-employees and members of the public using the premises. Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team’s objectives. Education and Experience Required: Hons degree in Science, Engineering or Energy Economics/Policy. 5 – 10 years post qualification experience in a regulated environment; Knowledge of the SEM and future i-SEM is preferable; Significant experience in the wider energy industry an advantage; An understanding of the regulatory system (for energy) in Ireland, UK and Europe is desirable; Proficiency in the standard IT packages is necessary as is the ability work within a collaborative team environment.
